Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight is #68 on Books That Everyone Should Read At Least Once. I enjoyed reading this book. I read this book before it was turned into a movie, and I must say that the book is way better than the movie. The movie actually disappointed me and I would never consider watching it again. A girl that I had met at a place I will not disclose, was reading this book and I was intrigued with the cover. So, I asked her ” What’s that book about?” She told me that the book was about a vampire that falls in love with a human. To me that sounded boring, but for some reason the cover was telling me it was something more in the story.
Anyways, the main character in this book is Bella. Bella is the human that the girl I mentioned above was talking about. Bella is a high school student who moves from Arizona to Forks, Washington to live with her father. When she moves there she meets a guy named Edward, who as reading I later learned along with Bella is the vampire the girl mentioned above was talking about. I thought it was weird that vampires were able to read people’s minds and could basically make others do what they wanted. However, it got even weirder when I learned that for some reason Bella’s mind could not be read and that her blood was very desirable. Isn't that weird?
Anyways, Bella and Edward start to fall for each other which eventually puts a lot of risk in boring Bella’s life. When a tracker vampire, James, comes to Forks he makes it a challenge to hunt Bella down for her irresistible blood. Now Edward is forced to fight to save Bella because he loves her as Bella tries her best to protect her family from this pack of tracker vampires.
My Rating:
I give this book 5 hearts because I loved the romantic story involved. I found it very interesting that Bella was so pasty white like the vampires being that she is from Arizona. I kept turning the pages and was hoping she’d become a vampire at the end.

For All the E-Book Readers Out There
I have some wonderful websites that I would love to share with any and every one who reads e-books. There are three amazing websites out there where you can get free e-books. And guess what? It is totally legal, so no I am not trying to get you to do some illegal activities.
The first website is bookgorilla.com. On this website you can sign up for daily e-mails on e-books that are on sale or free through Amazon for kindle. However, if you do not own a kindle or a device that has a kindle app, you will not be able to get the free or discounted books because you won't be able to read them.
The second website is bookbub.com. This website has the exact same things that the first website has, except for the fact that some of the books are offered in other formats besides Amazon for Kindle. For example, some books may be available through Kobo, Barnes & Noble Nook, and even Apple iBooks.
Now the third website, booklending.com, is similar to the first website. You'll get the daily emails with free books through Amazon for Kindle. The major difference is that through this website you can lend someone an e-book that you have, or you can request to borrow a book that someone else has and you want to read.

The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway
Title: The Old Man and the Sea
Author: Ernest Hemingway
Release Date: March 1952
Format: Hardcover
Length: 93 pages
Genre: Classics
My Summary:
Santiago, the main character in this book is an old fishermen who has not caught any fish in almost 3 months. He has a young apprentice and friend named Manolin, who has been forced to not go fishing with Santiago because he does not catch any fish. The old man is determined to break his unlucky streak and sets out farther on the sea then he usually does. While out there he hooks a fish that instead of it being easy to pull in starts to pull Santiago’s boat.
Trying to make sure that the fish does not snap his line, he ends up getting in a lot of bodily pain. The fish ends up pulling Santiago into a dangerous current. Santiago eventually kills the fish and gets it in the boat, however, this ends up causing more trouble for Santiago on his way home. When Santiago gets home, he is not completely empty handed. Instead, what he comes home with is not what others think that it is.
My Thoughts:
Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea is a book I had to read my junior year of high school. This book is the worst book I have ever had to read. Even though this book was read aloud by taking turns with students in my English class, I still thought it was painful to get through. I mean the book does teach a good lesson, but the way in which it teaches it did not interest me one bit. It was very boring. If it had not been required for my high school class, I may have never finished the book. I would not recommend this book to anyone unless I was to reread it and feel differently.

The Summer I Died by Ryan C. Thomas

Title: The Summer I Died
Author: Ryan C. Thomas
Series: Roger Huntington Saga #1
Release Date: January 20, 2006
Publisher: Coscom Entertainment
Format: E-book
Length: 232 pages
Genre: Horror/ Mystery/ Psychological Thriller
My Summary:
The 2 principal characters in this book are Roger Huntington and Mervyn a.k.a Tooth. The story is told from Roger's perspective. Roger is a nerdy, comic book lover who has just come home from college still a virgin. He is anxious to spend time with his best friend Tooth, since it seems like their lives have drifted apart since Roger started college. Roger and Tooth are an odd pair because Tooth doesn’t seem smart, but throughout the book we learn that Tooth is actually very smart. The summer that Roger and Tooth expected to have is far from the summer that they will actually experience. It all starts when they are shooting beer cans with Tooth’s gun and as they are about to leave they hear a woman screaming. Should they help her or should they go home?
My Thoughts:
The Summer I Died is one of the first books I have ever read by Ryan C. Thomas. I had gotten the e-book for free while browsing around on Amazon for free Kindle e-books. The cover of the book caught my attention; a man standing with an ax in his hand while the sun is setting over some mountains seemed just like something I would find interesting to read. However, this book was not what I expected. This book exceeded my expectations with the way that Thomas was able to explain the events taking place with such vivid details. I loved how Thomas was able to squeeze the humorous analogies into the characters dialogues and thoughts even when the characters were in such horrible situations. Since he was able to that it made the book seem more horrifying than saddening about what was happening.
The vivid description of details and events made me feel like I was right there with the characters, and I must say that it has been quite a long time since a book has made me feel this way. Certain parts where so vivid that I could not take what was happening to the characters and had to take a break from reading to get the images out of my head. Between the title of the book and the cover I was convinced that I knew exactly who was going to die and how they were going to die, but boy oh boy was I wrong. This book has so many surprises, twists, and moments where you just can’t believe it did not go how you thought. This book was written so well that it completely leaves you guessing because every event could have went so many different ways and for some reason it seems like I could never guess the way it ended up going.
One thing I liked about this book is how the characters’ values and personalities played a part in how the story climaxed. Roger is so nerdy and an extremely cautious crybaby, while Tooth is courageous and doesn’t take anybody’s bullcrap. All throughout the book it seems like their personalities clashed too much causing them to be in situations that they should have been out of or never gotten into in the first place. I like how religion had its part in the story as well being that Roger did not really believe in God, but believed there was a higher power over everyone. I liked how his thoughts about God kept changing as the story progressed. The importance of family also played a huge part in this book as a driving and motivating force.
I would definitely recommend this book to all of you, unless you have a very weak stomach. With that being said, WEAK STOMACHS PLEASE BE VERY AWARE AND TOUGHEN UP BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO READ THIS STORY!
